I am so EXCITED to be a HERITAGE MAKER! It was best defined this weekend at our convention by a guest speaker named Joey O’Conner who is a well known author and has a long resume of accomplishment. He said in his address that what you are doing as a Heritage Maker is “Capturing the PAST, by telling the story of the PRESENT, leaving no unfinished business for the FUTURE!”. Powerful—I certainly don’t want to leave unfinished business for my descendants that will follow, I want to have the stories of me and my family told for the coming generations so they know who I am, what I did, what my values are, my hopes and dreams, and more. There is an urgency to storybooking—time is not standing still and I encourage you to think about those stories you have that need told and get started today!! If you aren’t a Heritage Maker I challenge you to become one-I can help you get started for FREE. In a world where we are over stimulated by media, bombarded with message of what life is, what we should believe in, and who we should be I want to provide my family with the messages I want them to know. I want them know what it means to be a member of our family. I want to show them our values and traditions. I want them to know they are Daughters of their Heavenly Father. I want them to believe in themselves. I want them to know they are loved by their family. I want them to feel better about who they are. I CAN DO that. I can do that through the power of Story and Heritage Makers is the vehicle to do that. I could tell you hundreds of examples of lives changed through the power of story, but you’re all probably up way too late reading this in the first place but I would be happy to share more if you want to know. One of the teams that was at reunion had these shirts on: Where are your photos? Are they sitting in folders on your computer and on CD’s backed up but not being enjoyed. Mine were until I started with Heritage Makers. I loved what this shirt said—how many of us have children growing up as JPEGS? I challenge you to do something with them so they can be enjoyed and remember those memories! I just completed one of my grandparents' life story. While I was gathering phone interviews, going through journals, and scanning photos I ran across some photos I had seen before, but didn’t know their story. In her journal I found entries from her college days. Then I found a college diploma and graduation program. I was close to my grandmother and even when I left to pursue my college education she never mentioned it to me. The family has enjoyed looking through photographs long forgotten, and reading journal entries never discovered before. Now everyone in the family has a copy of everything and no one has to fight over who has what. It’s a treasured book that I hope my kids will love and cherish as they read and get to know their great-grandparents that had passed before they were born. My goal before the end of 2009 is to complete a similar book for every deceased member of my 4-generation group sheet and my husbands. I’ve enlisted family help and divided up the projects. I’ve got two more that I should publish within the month and then we’ll get to work on the next batch! I LOVE preserving our heritage! I love boosting a child's self esteem by creating a product that says "You are loved!" "You have Value", "You are talented". Have I said I love being a HERITAGE MAKER! My oldest daughter was 8 months old when my husband graduated from BYU. She attended his graduation, but doesn’t really remember attending obviously. Or so we thought….this April my sister was also graduating from BYU and we attended the graduation. My now 2 year old daughter sat in the audience and as they precession began she turned to her daddy and said “you graduated too daddy, I watched you!”. My husband looked at me a little bewildered and asked her, “you remember that?”. She responded, “yeah in those pictures in mommy’s book you did that and I was with you”. I just looked at him and smiled! See all those hours and investment is paying off. My daughter, although she is 2, remembers and knows her family members because she looks at those books EVERYDAY! She knows her great grandparents she’s never met because she reads those stories before nap time in our Family Heritage book we created, she knows the places she’s been and remembers things that amaze me, and then I remember---it’s not a burst of magic or even a great memory—it’s the power of STORY. The power Heritage Makers gives us to keep those memories alive and never-fading! I LOVE IT! Interested in the Business? Sign up TODAY!
I love what I do. I would do it for free because it is an integral part of my life's mission. I just came back from Anaheim, California, home to the happiest place on earth, but I think my Heritage Studio is the happiest place on earth. It's the place where I write my stories in the present, create permanent records that pass MY values on to future generations, and link my children with their past so they know who they are and where they came from. It's a place where I am creative. Do you know what creativity means? It means bringing something into existence that wasn't there before. Pictures without stories are memories lost. Without stories, there is no heritage. Is there something that you need to start creating today? Heritage Makers is poised to launch a Heritage movement across the country. This company has a vision and a mission like no other company I have seen. I am part of this movement and that vision, but I need help. Heritage Makers is about to go HUGE nationwide and when you logon to your heritage studio today to create something you will see why, but we need more consultants!
I NEED people to help me. Have you ever considered doing what I do? Do you know someone who might be? Please call me. I can't think of anything more meaningful than a story under every tree and a book in every home this year for the holidays. Please let me know if I can help you make this happen for your family this year. I'd love to here why YOU are a Heritage Maker! Please email me your "Heritage Moments" at heritagemoments@bindyourlegacy.com. Let's inspire each other!
